Gary A. Puckrein, Ph.D.

Dr. Gary A. Puckrein is a social scientist and historian who has made a lifetime commitment to the collection, analysis and dissemination of data and information on factors that impact the ability of minority populations in America to maximize their potential. He is an authority in the area of health informatics. He is a visiting scholar and fellow at the Smithsonian's National Museum of American History, and a visiting fellow at Princeton University. Dr. Puckrein has vast experience in managing large-scale national projects. Dr. Puckrein is also the CEO of Minority Health Communications, publisher of Minority Health Today, and the former publisher of American Visions magazine, an African-American art and cultural magazine.

Dr. Puckrein possesses a unique background in academia. Between 1974 and 1992, he taught and lectured at Brown University, Rutgers University, Connecticut College, and Roger Williams College. Dr. Puckrein has received many awards and honors, including being named a visiting scholar and fellow at the Smithsonian's National Museum of American History and a visiting fellow at Princeton University. Dr. Puckrein earned Ph.D. and MA degrees in history from Brown University, and received his BA from California State University at Los Angeles.
